The carnival kicks off with a Grand Procession through the centre of Witney Town, watched by thousands! It attracts all sorts of floats, from steam engines to marching bands to cycle clubs and of course our local school children. There is something for everyone, and this year's theme is 'Carnivals of the World'.
On the 13th of July, at 11am, the carnival procession will leave the Leys and proceed along Church Green towards the town centre.
It travels clockwise round the town on the designated route as indicated on the route map in blue. Some of the best viewing places at along Welch Way and on the high side of Market Square as well as along Church Green, where people are able to see the procession on both its outward and return legs. Each float is judged as it passes along Church Green on the outward leg and the individual class winners are posted on a board by the time the procession returns along Church Green.
Road closure points are shown on the route map, subject to approval given under the Town Police Clauses Act 1847
